Family Resources

a Minnesota licensed non-profit adoption agency

We are so blessed to have been given these two beautiful children to share our lives with. Even with all the problems going on in the world today, we feel our lives are just so wonderful. We are eternally grateful for everything Deb and the staff at Family Resources did to make this happen.  --The Waters; parents of Cody and Kira from the Astrakhan region of Russia.

Katie has become a very important part of our family.  She has given us so much love and she has grown and thrived on the love we have given her. I thank Deb every day (maybe not to her face) for sending out that newsletter and featuring Katie (Aigul) as the feature child. We feel it was fate that led her to us, but it was Deb and Family Resources that made this possible.

Sincerely, Dawn Tilton - Brooklyn Park, MN

The decision to adopt again didn't come right away. We adopted our oldest daughter domestically when she was less than two days old.  When our daughter was six she and I started to really talk about her having a sister. We talked about it for awhile before we decided to approach my husband about it. Much to our surprise he said we should look into it again. We knew we did not want a baby again, we wanted a girl close to Hannah's age, a sister for her to play with, confide in, to complain to about her crazy parents when we were old. We also wanted another child to love. We had always talked about having two kids, but after waiting so long for the first one, we were overwhelmed with our love for her that we thought another child just wouldn't be as wonderful as our first. (We would soon find out that we can and do love all of our children as much as the first.) Because Hannah has such a kind and loving heart, we thought that we were depriving her in some way of the joys of having a sibling. And so began our journey.

One of the teachers at our daughter's school was adopting through Family Resources. She had brought a video of her children to school for everyone to see. They were so sweet, and it all seemed so real, that there were real children in Russia to be adopted and loved. I immediately called Deb to set up an appointment. We brought our daughter with us to the meeting and we instantly decided that Family Resources was the agency for us.

We had originally only wanted to add one child to our family. My husband was happy with only Hannah but he agreed that another girl would be a great addition to our family. As luck would have it, Deb told us about a brother and sister available for adoption in Kemerovo, Russia. Would we be interested? I said that I definitely would be, but I would have to convince Steve. After some prayers and talking about it, we decided that the brother and sister would be an awesome addition to our family. And so began the wait to travel to Russia. Finally our time to go came. It all seemed so unreal, like a dream that we were traveling half way around the world to meet our kids, Nicole and Adam. Our trip was great, aside from missing Hannah who was at home with grandma. We still have some contact with our interpreters, they were all so kind and helpful.

I tease my husband sometimes that I think our son, Adam, needs a brother. He just smiles and says "no". My dear sweet husband would have been happy with one child, but he is now the proud father of three wonderful children who happen to all have been adopted. We have found that three children are in some ways easier to take care of than one. They act as though they have been together for life. They play, fight, and most of all they love each other. We are thankful to everyone who helped us complete our family, from the birthparents who gave them life, to the agency who helped us find our wonderful children. Our children have wonderful stories of our searches to find them, and Family Resources has helped us along the way.  - Michelle Meyers, now a mother of three

"After visiting a number of agencies, we knew that Family Resources was the best choice for us. As a result of their care and commitment, we now have been blessed with a wonderful family!"
